These poems explore the Mexican landscape, and express the longings of those who have left it. The characters dream of Mexico’s ripe fruit and bright colours, and of old ways and old lovers left behind. Searching for a balance between two worlds, the characters are trapped in the past.

Juan Delgado is the author of three books of poetry, A Rush of Hands, El Campo, and Green Web. He is currently Professor of English at California State University, San Bernardino.
